Last night we lost Alain Peauroi, co-founder and partner of TERREMOTO. He had been privately and bravely battling cancer. His wife Kimberlee was at his side.
Words cannot describe the great loss to the design community, and today we honor a life lived, and an exceptional body of work which contributed to the vibrancy of our community.
If you have photos, memories or anything you would like to share, please contact us.
You can read the full post here and below from TERREMOTO, and we will update you with more information as we have it:
“It is with heavy but also thankful hearts that we share the passing of Alain Peauroi, co-founder and partner of TERREMOTO. Alain had been privately and bravely battling cancer the past decade, and yesterday evening, around 6pm, he peacefully passed away at his home, with his wonderful wife Kimberlee at his side.
Alain was kind, generous, handsome, funny and had no patience for bullshit. He was somehow simultaneously both gentle and powerful. We will forever be less without him, but also, our team is so, so thankful that we got to learn from him and enjoy his wonderful, warm, booming laugh. Our themes of simple, elemental details and kindness and camaraderie to landscape builders are his direct, living legacy. We have every intention of carrying his way of ethical building forward.
His life was too short, but in the time he had, he lived a big, beautiful life! As a studio, community and profession, we are richer for his work and presence. He leaves behind two perfect little boys, a loving wife @kimizzle_ and an office of twenty-six souls who all miss him dearly.
We will keep everyone in the loop as to if/when there might be a celebration of his life in the coming days and weeks. We are confident Alain knew he was loved by many.
With love, gratefulness and sadness.”
