Join us as we kick off Year of Design during our Rivian x Design Bay Area Electric Weekend for a hands-on workshop exploring the world of zine-making!
We’ll guide you through folding and designing your own mini-zine using prompts centered on joy and inspiration. The focus is on process over perfection, giving you the freedom to experiment with layout, typography, and storytelling through a simple, analog format.
You’ll leave with a finished personal memento and a repeatable creative exercise to spark new ideas anytime.
Zines are small, self-published booklets that let designers play with layout, composition, typography, and storytelling in a fast, low-pressure format. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll step away from screens and explore the tactile side of design by folding a single sheet of paper into a mini-zine and filling it with prompts centered on joy, comfort, and inspiration. The focus is on process over perfection, experimenting with visual ideas, sequencing pages, and using simple materials to create something personal. You’ll leave with a finished zine and a repeatable, analog design exercise you can return to anytime you want a creative reset.
About the Facilitator: Christabel Agbugba
Christabel Agbugba is a multifaceted artisan who loves exploring many different crafts as a way to spark curiosity, joy, and connection. She’s passionate about building community through hands-on creative experiences and believes that creativity is for everyone, not just for people who consider themselves “artistic.” Christabel co-hosts community Art in the Park, craft gatherings across San Francisco, where she invites people to slow down, try something new, and create together. Professionally, she has a background in computer science and product design at a major tech company, and now works in project management while pursuing her MBA.

About Art in the Park:
Art in the Park is a bi-monthly-ish community craft gathering co-hosted by Christabel and Jordan White, built around accountability, creativity, and shared experience. The goal is creating a relaxed, welcoming environment where people can slow down, try something new, and make things together. At its core, Art in the Park is about the belief that creating is deeply human and that everyone deserves a playful, pressure-free space to reconnect with their creativity.
