Where Vision Meets Material: A Visit to IRG Stone
Designer Nina Jizhar recalls her own experience stepping into the IRG Stone yard, sketchbook and inspiration references in hand. “I came in with a Giada De Laurentiis photo as a reference and IRG Stone immediately located the perfect choice.” She wanted something which reflected the mood from the inspiration, not a replica. She scanned the rows of marble, quartzite, and granite with a practiced eye, flipping to a page of sketches she refined into the vision she had for a specific project for weeks. Holding the drawing against the surface of a slab, she wasn’t simply searching for beauty — she was evaluating scale, durability, and how the material will perform in the context of her client’s space. In this moment, the yard becomes more than a warehouse of stone; it’s an extension of her design studio, where ideas move from paper to possibility.
Through a collaborative process, IRG Stone was essential in helping Nina choose the right material for her clients project. “The marble we selected was IRG Stone’s Fior Di Pesco, and it is absolutely stunning.
I think of IRG Stone as artistry from the earth. She adds “For designers and architects, these aren’t just materials—they’re beginnings. For their clients, they are new stories waiting to unfold.”

A Gallery of Stone
Walking the yard feels less like visiting a showroom and more like stepping into an art gallery or material workshop. The slabs, arranged into sculptural towers, create an atmosphere of discovery. Each piece tells a story — not only of geology, but also of the journeys and partnerships that brought it here. For designers, the space becomes both a source of inspiration and a canvas for possibility.
“There’s an energy you feel standing among the slabs,” says interior designer Penny Chin of Elements in Design. “It’s like each one is waiting for you to imagine the life it will take on in a home or space.”

Ahead of the Curve
IRG Stone’s long-standing relationships with quarries around the world grant it early access to rare colors and patterns, often well before they appear elsewhere. This ability to introduce unusual materials — stones that are both timeless and trend-setting — has earned IRG Stone a reputation for excellence. But what truly distinguishes the company is its ethos: a foundation built on trust, integrity, and a deep understanding of how materials shape design.
“We’re dedicated to providing unique and exotic materials. Our relationships with quarries around the world allow us to stay ahead, offering exclusive colors and patterns before they reach the market.” remarks Dilmohan Chadha, Owner of IRG Stone.

Collaboration as Craft
Designers don’t simply source stone here; they find collaborators who understand the nuances of vision and craft. Whether working with architects, interior designers, or builders, IRG Stone has become a trusted partner, creating a space where experimentation is encouraged and discovery feels inevitable.“It never feels transactional,” adds Penny Chin of Elements in Design. “The dedicated team at IRG Stone listen. They want to understand the bigger story of the project, not just what material we’re choosing.”

Sustainability at the Core
As the design world grapples with its environmental impact, IRG Stone has taken a clear stance: beauty must align with responsibility. Its expanding collection of eco-friendly surfaces and emphasis on responsible sourcing reflect a commitment to more thoughtful material choices. For IRG Stone, sustainability isn’t a marketing tagline but a guiding principle that shapes decisions from quarry to installation.
“Clients ask about sustainability more than ever,” says Heather Cleveland of Heather Cleveland Design. “Having a partner like IRG Stone who’s already thinking about those questions makes our job easier — and our projects more meaningful.”

More than Materials
At its essence, IRG Stone offers more than surfaces. It offers connection — between designer and material, between creativity and craft, between vision and the earth itself. Each slab that leaves the yard carries not only natural beauty but also the values of responsibility, collaboration, and trust that have defined IRG Stone from the very beginning.
“We know that creativity thrives with the right support,” says owner Ameeta Chadha. “Our goal is to create an environment that empowers that process. We consider IRG Stone to be a partner on whom designers and architects can rely.”

About IRG Stone
At IRG Stone, family and community have always been at the center. For decades, the company has been part of the Bay Area design landscape, welcoming architects, designers, and homeowners into its showrooms in Brisbane, Dublin, and Sacramento. Each space reflects the same philosophy: materials should be discovered in a setting that feels open, supportive, and free of pressure—a place where ideas can take shape.
The range of surfaces IRG Stone offers mirrors the diversity of the region from which it comes. From semi-precious slabs and timeless marbles to modern quartz, porcelain, quartzite, and limestone, the collection speaks to projects of every scale. Premium tile lines extend those possibilities even further. This depth and variety, combined with a longstanding commitment to quality and service, have positioned IRG Stone as a trusted partner for the Bay Area’s design community—contractors, fabricators, and homeowners as much as architects and interior designers.
