Fantastic Scenes in the Universe: The Art of Carolyn Ferris is an 8.25 x 11 inch, 96-page, fine art–quality hardcover coffee table book, with museum-quality printing, UV protection, archival ink and paper (100 lb), plus galaxy-themed endpapers. An Open Eye Books Publishing release, it features 36 annotated art plates. The journey begins with the first art plate, Galactic Passage, which offers your ticket to board this voyage through the universe. Along the way, you’ll explore characters and space travelers you may one day meet, learning something about their lives or worlds as the art and annotations bring their stories to life.

About Carolyn Ferris

In the 80s, Carolyn Ferris moved to San Francisco and launched her art career, collaborating on paintings with Timothy Leary and serving as the art director and illustrator for his book Chaos and Cyberculture.

Her journey into poster design began when she was approached to create one for a Prodigy show at the Warfield in San Francisco. Since then, she has lent her design skills to various venues and bands, including the Fillmore, Widespread Panic, Maritime Hall, Santana, 23andMe, IBM, and more.

Joining the Moonalice poster design pool in 2009, Ferris remains an active contributor, creating posters for Moonalice, Roger McNamee, Doobie Decibel System, and others.

Teaming up as art partners, Wes Wilson and Carolyn Ferris produced works together from 2015 to 2017.

For 18 years, she is also a volunteer magazine editor for The Rock Poster Society.

Her book, Fantastic Scenes in the Universe: The Art of Carolyn Ferris, is a richly illustrated coffee table book that invites readers into the lives of imaginative beings through 36 art plates with characters who may one day be met in space. With visionary art and storytelling, it explores the intersection of space travel, creativity, and wonder—made for art lovers, futurists, the curious, and those in the wine, beer, and spirits industries who thrive on inspiration and forward-thinking culture.
